Auch in der kühlen Wüstenregion im Regierungsbezirk Kumul (chin. Hami) in Chinas Xinjiang Region werden Meteoriten gesucht und gefunden. Während der Expeditionen im Dezember 2011 sowie April 2012 wurden vom Team um den Geologen Wang Peng angeblich insgesamt 300 kg, einschließlich eines intakten Individuals von 43,85 kg, gefunden. Ein 329 g Exemplar wurde nun dem Purple Mountain Observatory übergeben.

In 36,5 km Entfernung vom Fundort fand der Geologe Wang im September 2008 bereits den Meteoriten von Kumtag (H5, S2,W2 , TKW 26 kg). Die Hauptmasse wog 3530 g.

Offensichtlich wurden am 4. und 5. Mai im Kumtag-Streufeld (H5) noch andere Meteorite (L3 ?) gefunden, die nicht zum Kumtag Streufeld gehören
