http://www.futura-sciences.com/uploads/tx_oxcsfutura/carte.jpg

Zitat
1) Name of observer: (not required if not MP) C. .. Maryline (name known to the adm.)
2) Observation date + time: 2 August 2011 to 3 h from 30 - 32 (I noticed that night hours and places of passage in my road map, making the same circuit as the previous day)
3) Exact location of the observation (place, a place called, street, etc.): Bordeaux, beginning of the platform of the money going towards the quay Holy Cross [ORIGINAL: Bordeaux, début du quai de la monnaie en allant vers le quai Sainte Croix]
4) State of sky (clear, cloudy, etc. ...): clear
5) apparent diameter visible? If yes, what approximate size?: Somewhat oval shape, it seemed huge, I would say 40 to 50cm but hard to judge
6) Orientation of the meteor (where he appeared, he disappeared - the cardinal points, or visual cues) rose above the Garonne from left to right then from east to west?
7) Tilt the ground: trajectory with an angle of 30 ° to 45 °
7b) Height of observation over the horizon I can not evaluate it, it seemed very low and very close to as much as he disappeared behind the buildings but I have often had the impression of seeing the sunset and feel the sun was down the street! So what?? My vision was relatively small since I was driving a bus, my head was about 1.50m from the ground and watched through the windshield
Cool observation time (in seconds): 2 to 3 seconds
9) Can you show up on the path of the meteor? yes
10) Apparent Brightness (relative to the moon, stars, or lamps), that of a flash or fireworks
11) Colors observed, and any color variations in the transition: very white
12) Drag visible? Persistent contrails? If yes, duration approx: yes but not persistent, which gives an oval object moving in
13) Fragmentation observed? If so, how many pieces:: no
14) apparent speed (slow, medium or fast): Fast
15) Something Has sound been heard? if so, what kind? No (I was driving a bus window)
16) time interval between the luminous phenomenon and the phenomenon of sound:
17) Is there been observing the arrival of the meteor on the ground? not
18) Contact, address or phone to contact you: sui06 ........ later known to the adm.
19) Were there other people who observed this phenomenon with you? Unfortunately not my bus was empty, I was a pick-up staff and a colleague had just put the deposit Bastide du Tram, I asked him tonight if he had seen something, he said that after about 1 hour towards Mérignac tram he had seen a lot of lightning

Zitat
What has happened, then, on Monday night to Tuesday around 3 pm 30 am, in the sky midi-Pyrenees? The unidentified aerospace phenomena (PAN) observed in the sky Toulouse reported in yesterday's edition, has in fact been identified by witnesses differ, Tarn-et-Garonne on the borders of the Ariege and the Aude, through the Tarn and Haute-Garonne.

Cyril Hurtel, a truck driver who makes the connection Toulouse Toulouse and Agen-back night, said: "I was driving westbound, between exits and Castelsarrasin Montauban, on the highway, when a flash of a few seconds illuminated the area. There were like day. Then I saw a fireball coming toward me, above me, slowly and quietly with songs that stood behind. "A scene worthy of "Close Encounters", right?

As day

In the Ariège is a lot of vacationers camping de la Serre, Aigues-Vives, who was awakened by an "explosion in the sky" at the same time, the same day.

A camper Dutch could not sleep even saw on a path west is "a very bright white ball that exploded in four or five pieces red or yellow" before disappearing on the horizon Aude, and to Chalabre Bélesta.

Two of our readers and to Auterive Labarthe-sur-Lèze report on our website (see below against) the same phenomenon unexplained, explosive and luminous. Stories that reinforce the idea of a meteorite that could break through the sky of the Southwest at 3 pm Tuesday 30 am.

The group studies and information on the PAN (GEIPAN) based at CNES in Toulouse yesterday has raised "a score of interesting testimony," but so far refuses to engage in any case, pending the necessary information and cross from the center of any debris monitoring aerospace CNES. No point of ground impact of a possible meteorite has yet been reported in the region.

The "pan" Toulouse is a buzz throughout the region

Testimonials and comments poured in on our website all day yesterday, sometimes incredulous, even mocking, but provoking a lively discussion. While Geipan collected twenty stories instead of a consistent phenomenon unidentified in the sky in the Toulouse region, to 3:30 am Tuesday. Among the records of mails Ladepeche.fr for Lorine, "it was exactly 3:36, I came home from visiting friends near Labarthe-sur-Lèze and before returning to the ring road, the sky turned all white one (...) huge white ball at full speed left to my right followed by sparks and after ten seconds, it exploded and then nothing. I've never seen anything like (...) 200 to 300m high. "Auterive, "Zouzou1710" saw the sky clear up "for two to three seconds, all the neighborhood dogs began to bark and then nothing and ten seconds later, a loud noise (...) my mother Cazères was awakened by the noise. "Bruno d'Agen reports that another section of our daily, published the same day, refers to "an explosion in the sky at around 3:30 Aigues-Vives" that woke count camping holiday in Serre.

sentence

"We received a score of witnesses mail or phone, some very interesting. It is too early to draw a precise location hypothesis or explanation. It is not known whether there has been hitting the ground "

The Geipan, CNES-Toulouse.

Many of you follow the discussion on "new meteorite in Midi-Pyrénées" on our forum astronomy which houses all the stories about this celestial event. Remember for those who do not know yet that a bright meteor flew over the South West of France on Tuesday morning August 2 to 3:30.

For more information on the nature (probably a meteorite) and the origin of this ball of fire, it is necessary to have the most accurate evidence about the direction of the phenomenon and its height in the sky. The eyewitnesses were still struggling to provide very precise, so the scientists hope they a picture of the phenomenon. And photo, here it is! the device.

That night, in fact, three members of the club 78 Albireo watching the sky from Bracou near Clermont-Ferrand. They tell what they saw: "Bolide of Bracou: 1 h 30 TU (3 h 30 local). On the bright green, like a flare, it shone on half of the starry vault, leaving a trail glowing in its path. He disappeared on the horizon southeast in the constellation of Capricorn. Seconds before seen, we clearly heard the sound of his re-entry. "David Neel, a member of the group, was then conducting a photograph of the Milky Way when the meteor fell within the scope of the unit.

The postponement of the trace of the meteor on a chart is in agreement with the first card of the observers we have established. The document camera should delight Geipan scientists who collect all data about the unidentified aerospace phenomena. A big thank you to the club Sébastien Leclerc Albireo 78 who provided these images.

A meteor on August 2 in the skies over southern France

On Tuesday, August 2, 2011, between 3:27 ET 3:35 in the morning, dozens of witnesses observed the sky suddenly lit up like daylight, followed by an object, often described green / blue making a transition from 4 to 5 seconds. Some of them also heard one or two explosions a few seconds after the passage of the phenomenon. Some relate to fragmentation.

The fifty witnesses located on a large southern region (Ariege, Aveyron, Aude, Gironde, Haute Garonne, Tarn, Tarn et Garonne) who contacted the GEIPAN provided specific guidance on this observation.

Preliminary data collected show a trajectory oriented north-south, with a slight shift from east to west.

The meteor seems to have ended his race in a triangular area Andorra / Carcassonne / Perpignan.

A meteor is a phenomenon produced by the reentry of a 'big' meteorite (over 100g, that is to say a few centimeters to 1 meter) which produces a large streak of light, capable of 'illuminate the landscape for several seconds, sometimes with a hiss or a bang similar to sonic booms. Color may vary depending on the composition of the meteorite; debris can reach the ground.

The Geipan continues to work on mapping of the fireball which will be a future date.

He thanked all the witnesses for their contributions to this work.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bracou-Aufnahme 45° 39' 40'' N, 3°22' 24.84'' O / 2.8.2011 / Uhrzeit:  3.35 Uhr (in voller Auflösung):
